Heal

i felt rather restless this day. Something was stirring my heart and a gnawing unease persisted.

Sometime in the evening, i thought it might be my concern for my mother. i wondered how she would take my father’s passing, if he fails to overcome the cancer this time. i mean, i’m pretty sure i’d be fine. i doubt my siblings would be too affected since none of us have much of a relationship with our father but i guess it’d be different for my mom. She’d be losing her mate, her partner, literally half of her since in marriage they were made one.

So many people are suffering from cancer these days, directly or indirectly.

i asked my Father, “Why?”

i wondered if it was judgement on a world, on a people, on a generation that proclaims through medical science, through psychology, through self-help techniques, through various forms therapy, through entertainment and leisure, through statistics, through economics, through sheer voluntary blindness that we are just fine and only getting better and better.

Yet it is all so contrary to the truth, isn’t it?

The world is ailing by the minute and maybe cancer as suffered by so many people is the symptom of a dying and ailing world.

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

2 Chronicles 7:14

Heal our land. O we are ill indeed, in so many ways! How desperately we are in need of Your presence, Your power, Your healing!

For the true disease.

The grotesque cancer of rebellion, of sin, of a warped and twisted nature that recoils and is repulsed from its Creator, from its God, from its Lord. That bites and spits at the very hand, the only hand, that desires to love and restore it to its rightful state.

Father, use this cancer for Your glory. May my father know you truly, once for all, as his Lord, as His God. May You heal him deeply in his soul, regardless whether You heal him physically.

Amen.
