A man without self control
is like a city broken into and left without walls
Proverbs 25:28
I saw it with my own eyes!
the broken city.
its walls were rent and
Fallen;
defenses breached,
and laid waste to.
I walked amid the desolate remains,
sorrowing at glorious watchtowers,
now crumbled, now humbled,
a Comedy of brick and stones.
my tears fell
as sight fell
upon the tarnished gates,
now mangled, [...]

What Men Really Want

While there are qualities and attributes that define manhood, they have little, if anything, to do with physical prowess or the urge to dominate others. These qualities and attributes can be found within the word “virtue.”
I mean that literally. The word “virtue” comes from the Latin virtus, which in turn is derived from vir, the [...]

“…what we do in life echoes for eternity.”
Maximus, Gladiator
Today was an emotionally trying day.
Long goodbyes and fond farewells.
Friends/colleagues leaving for pastures greener (moot).
The last day of school and another year in the life of my girls have passed, bringing all of them that much closer to the harsh, harsh world of reality.

I watched afar
as the sky faded,
sighingly, shining azure
to veiled black.
And my heart swelled

so must blue fade to black,
bright to night,
light in flight;
so the shadows loom,
falling heavily, heavier,
till the dark eclipses all.
And my cup of coffee
Lay still; deadly cold.

Green Goblin from Spiderman
There seems to be an inordinate amount of wisdom spouted in the Spiderman movies. Wonder what they’ll come up with next summer for Spiderman 3?
Anyway, this line by the Green Goblin captures what I’ve been pondering over the past week. I read an article on Monday [...]
