I watched afar
as the sky faded,
sighingly, shining azure
to veiled black.
And my heart swelled
melancholy.
For so it is
this ancient play
repeats itself
on this falling earth;
so must blue fade to black,
bright to night,
light in flight;
so the shadows loom,
falling heavily, heavier,
till the dark eclipses all.
And my cup of coffee
Lay still; deadly cold.
Dusk

sorry for late reply. i dun have your email.. i am not exactly one of your students..

i don’t really understand the Dusk entry. =( is this the level of difficulty for unseen?? -frowns-
1. well, you can email me at wesleyanflame@gmail.com
2. ziyan, i took higher chinese in secondary school and, if you haven’t noticed, my Bible has a chinese translation alongside the english one.
i can understand mandarin!
3. maybe it doesn’t make sense because it’s a really lousy poem?
don’t worry. the unseen poem is by an established poet. it’s going to be a lot more difficult! ha ha…
kidding…kidding. Remember all the techniques you know for poetry and prose, amp up your heart and you’ll have no problem with the exam
heyy..which church do u attend?charasmatic?
just dropping by after a long long while. =)
the world is dark.
though the birth of a single flame would almost save all,
who would be willing to exhaust for another?
sigh.
blessed be.

bahhh! cool den. go n watch!!!!! whoooppsss… i dun read ur blog offen. so didnt noticee
ziyan’s busy u noeee?
1. I’m from Aldersgate Methodist Church. Not charismatic in the sense that is meant in modern Christianity but charismatic in the sense that i strive to walk alongside the Holy Spirit, as He walks beside me
2. Hopr you’re doing well, beatrice. You sound a little despondent.
Remember Him who did “exhaust” Himself for you and the whole world.
3. Busy studying, i hope, Ziyan
booooooooo!!!! ziyan busy paintin..
get a tagboard!! change a template!! lalaa..
i agree with beat.
the world IS dark.
but, i guess it pays to be optimistic. (:
i like wierd and random stuff.was the poem supposed to be random and wierd?
i’m not making sense.
thank you for the ppt!i think we’re using it for one of our activities(:
sher,i liked the poem. =)
the meaning was fuzzed but i believe all have different interpretations of “Dusk”.
my interpretation of “Dusk” was of what i could relate to.
weird or random?
it was nice. =)

He who exhausted.
during bio exam, those words tugged at my conscience.
i drew.
thought still in shallow doubt,
i thank thee. =)
chill-
*though
I liked it too.
have been reading many of such..poems..lately(:
“He who exhausted” indeed.
We’re forever indebted to Him.
Some times, i really don’t know why he chose US.
Then again, life’s a mystery.
haha. sher, i like that. =P
chill-
post.more.poems.
threatening look.
shuffles around. who chose the poem for eoys?? haha. (or is that confidential info or something?)
why doesn’t our school chose poets like sylvia plath or blake or bronte or frost or wordsworth or poe? i haven’t seen many if any of these poems come out in tests or exams….and they’re some of the most established poets.
i’ve always wondered that.
anyway i’m off now; i see my physics books staring accusingly at me.
i think it is so cause if poems come from established and well-known poets like those you named, we’d've probably seen then before. =P
or a higher chance of seeing those perhaps. =)
which wouldn’t be quite right for an examination. =P
chill-
LIT!!
LIT!!
i think it’s sad that they didn’t open up the lit 9th subject class.
i think there are quite a few others who feel the same way.
1. i chose the poem for the exam, fedora.
well, i would like to poems from those poets you mentioned but, currently, i think they’re beyond the capacity of most of your lit mates in cedar.
we’ll see how it goes when you’re all in Sec 4
2. As for the poem, i just jotted down some thoughts as i was praying and looking out the glass panes of my favourtie coffee place during the evening two sundays ago.
i’d been there since the afternoon and the sky was a brilliant blue and i guess i felt a little sad that even that glorious light, that wondrous blue must succumb to the inky night.
I thought it was an apt metaphor for how behind everything in this world lurks the shadow of sin, the darkness of having fallen from grace.
So there you go.
p.s. i think you all have kinda inspired me to write something centred around the phrase “He who exhausted”. Hopefully, something’ll pop out in the next few days. Heh heh…
HELLO mrsng.
exams are over.

to be honest, i really dont understand your entries. hehheh, but just tagging to say hi.

“why doesn’t our school chose poets like sylvia plath or blake or bronte or frost or wordsworth or poe?”
i knew that sounded suspiciously like fedora! hahahah! fellow passion for sylvia plath and frost! it had to be fefe!
i think if the school chose a poem like lady lazarus they’d be afraid that cedarians would suddenly change into gothic-ly freaky people with suicidal tendencies. hahaha. well that’s just my 2 cents worth.
P.S Mr Sng did you watch the england vs poland game? Rooney ACTUALLY offered his hand when he fouled some polish guy. rooney and fifa fair play does not exactly match.
Maria
1.You’re welcome, maple
