I wonder
how they got the top
red
and the bottom
white.
Were two separate pieces
stuck together with
plastic glue?
Or was the top
dyed red
through and through?
That doesn’t explain
the white stars
and the crescent.
Maybe they were pasted on.
Pretty, symmetrical stars.
And a crescent moon.
Up above my classroom,
And a thousand,
thousand others.
Pinned tight and fast
to a thousand,
thousand walls
by a thousand,
thousand [...]
