We stood in the centre of time and space.
That’s what the sign said anyway.
More accurately, we stood in the exact spot where the imaginary line known as the Greenwich Meridian divides and provides a standard of distance and time for the world.
It’s not so imaginary actually, because a green laser shoots out from the observatory that houses the Greenwich Meridian and provides a rather visible reminder of its existence to the denizens of Greenwich and what visitors happen on its soil.
It was cool, being able to hop across one time zone to the other.
I couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly at the sign which displayed the quote “…you now stand in the centre of time and space” thought.
The audacity and vanity of Man!
Sigh.
Anyway, Greenwich is also home to a pretty famous market named rather straightforwardly, Greenwich Market.
Once again, it sells the requisite antiques, foodstuffs, handicraft and independently designed fashions, though they are all somewhat on the pricey side.
But we had a whale of a time at one particular shop – Mr Humbug – which specialises in traditional English candies.
Many bars of fudge and whatnot were purchased. My favourite purchase is the Monster Jaw Breaker, which, as the name suggests, is really a giant gobstopper…weighing three hundred grams.
Seriously, i could kill someone if I threw the Monster at him or her.
It’s supposed to be a Christmas present to someone at Cedar.
Who is it for?
Just look out for someone with really sore jaws…or broken ones.
I KNOWW. miss wee? HAHA (:
OH I CANT WAIT
